Our Story

Manimekala combines aesthetics and ethics, creating unique contemporary fashion that empowers both the wearer and the makers. Founder Manimekala Fuller brings her distinctive style to life with a sustainable “slow fashion” ethos, specialising in joyful, statement textiles inspired by her British-Indian heritage. Combining thoughtful designs with social and environmental responsibility, Manimekala resonates with women of all ages across the world.
Launched in 2018, after Mekala graduated from the University of Westminster, Manimekala has since been worn by UK first ladies Akshata Murty and Carrie Johnson, seen in national media such as the Telegraph, Red magazine and Grazia, and featured in Isabel Spearman’s Daily Dress Edit pop ups.
Manimekala is pronounced "muh-nee-may-kuh-luh"

Manimekala is a WOC-founded and owned brand based in London, UK. To ensure transparency and ethical treatment, we avoid working with traditional for-profit factories. Instead we follow a made-to-order model to produce only what is needed, and therefore reduce waste.

Manimekala also creates limited-edition styles in partnership with female-led artisan groups to support and nurture traditional craft skills. Previous collaborators include Saheli Women and Roopali. Learn more about who makes our clothes here.
